- “The God Who Offers Rest”

“As it is the law of nature, that, in general, a due proportion of time be set apart for the worship of God; so, in His Word, by a positive, moral, and perpetual commandment binding all men in all ages, He has particularly appointed one day in seven, for a Sabbath, to be kept holy unto him. which, from the beginning of the world to the resurrection of Christ, was the last day of the week. and, from the resurrection of Christ, was changed into the first day of the week, which, in Scripture, is called the Lord's Day, and is to be continued to the end of the world, as the Christian Sabbath.” Westminster Confession of Faith - 21.7

A. Blessings –
1. Prosperity
2. Civic blessing – Worship will flourish; the people will bring burnt offerings and sacrifices of praise
3. National blessing – the nation united
B. Curse –
1. God would destroy the nation, the first son as king only lasts three months and is taken to Egypt
2. Jehoiakim, the second son contended with Jeremiah for 14 years
3. The third son Jehoiachin ruled three months and taken to Babylon
4. The fourth son Zedekiah saw the destruction of Jerusalem
Our nation is suffering stress, depression, brokenness, poverty, and a nation torn apart by division, conflict, lawlessness, threatening anarchy. Is it not time to honor the Lord who died and rose again to heal His people and our land? Think about the Lord’s Day by what you are able to do, not what you can’t do. Rest in the Lord and the gospel of grace. Build lasting relationships; visit the sick and shut in. The Sabbath is a gift of grace. Give thanks and remember the Sabbath to keep it holy
